Mul on nyt inspiraatiota niin päätin postata vielä mun viikonlopusta Waitomossa. Se oli siis vapaaehtonen AFS-n järjestämä retki, jonne pääsi mukaan 50 ekaa. Waitomo on siis ihan pieni turistikylä, jossa on kiiltomadoistaan kuuluisa Waitomo Caves. Pääsin testaamaan black water raftingia ja puettiin märkäpuvut, koska se vesi oli k-y-l-m-ä-ä. Se oli kuitenki tosi kivaa ja muistan vaan kun nauroin kokoajan kun nynny-Sofia mun takana huusi että älä vaan päästä Elsa mun jaloista kiinni mä en halua kuolla tänään :D
Ennen blackwater raftingia mentiin kattomaan kiwi cultural show jossa kerrottiin vähän Uuden-Seelannin historiasta ja maatila elämästä. Näin kanssa elämäni ekaa kertaa opossumin! Se näytti mun mielestä naamasta ihan possun ja kissan sekotukselta.
Last weekend I was on a AFS-trip on Waitomo Caves, where was 50 other exchange students from all over the North Island. I tried black water rafting and it was pretty awesome but the water was freeeeezing cold! I remember laughing almost the whole time, because Sofia who was straight after me was yelling to me that she didn't want to die and that I needed to hold her legs tighter.
Before black water rafting we saw kiwi culture show which was full of kiwi humor. The highlight for me was that I saw an opossum for the first time! It looked like a pig and a cat at the same time :D

Sunnuntaina mentiin tsekkaamaan itse Waitomo Caves ja meillä oli oikeen opastettu kierros. Oon nyt taas niin paljon viisaampi, ja valasen nyt teitäkin et kiiltomadot ei oikeesti oo matoja, vaan toukkia. Nimi Glow-worm vaan sattuu kuulostamaan vähän houkuttelevammalta kun Glow-maggot...
Ennen kun ajettiin takas kotiin, mun hostäiti ehdotti et mentäis Otorahangan Kiwihouse ja National Bird puistoon/tarhaan missä oli paljon kaikkia eri lintulajeja ja KIWI! Päästiin vielä seuraamaan kiwien ruokintaa, ja se oli kyl jotain niin erilaista mitä olin odottanu. Naurettiin silmät kyynelissä kun se pieni löllykkä potki ja yritti näykkiä sitä naista joka ruokki sitä.
On Sunday we had a guided tour to the actual caves, and I learned that glow-worms are actually maggots, but the name glow-worm just sounds more attractive than glow-maggot...
My hostmum suggested that before driving back home we would go and visit the Otarahanga Kiwihouse and National Birdpark. We were lucky because we were there at the right time to see how they were feeding kiwis. We were laughing so much when this little fat bird tried to kick and bite the person that was feeding her.
