Viimiset kuvat Australian reissulta, vajaan kuukauden myöhässä hahaa. Sydneyssä näin Sarkun pitkästä aikaa ja kierrettiin turistikohteita, nähtiin rantoja, ilotulituksia ja syötiin ihanaa ruokaa ja ah niin makeita mangoja. Bongasin ihan sattumalta Sydneyn yliopiston joka on toi Tylypahkaa muistuttava rakennus. Se kampus-alue oli niiiiiin valtava! Käveltiin Sarkun kanssa Coastal walk all the way from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach, ja lauantai aamuna viihdytin itteeni (liiankin hyvin ainakin shoppailun osalta) Glebe Marketeilla (joka on täynnä hipstereitä, koruja ja halpoja leviksen farkkushortseja).  Kaks viimistä päivää vietin Manlyssä (Sydneyn Solsidan!!) mun hostäidin siskon perheen luona ja sain jo kutsun takasinkin! Niin paljon ihania ihmisiä ja ihania muistoja xx

Last pictures from my trip to Aussie, almost a month late oops. In Sydney I saw my friend Sarkku who currently lives there, so she promised to be my tour guide. We did the Coastal walk, shopped, saw all the major tourist attractions and had dinner at the Darling Harbour whilst the fireworks where on. While Sarkku was working I spotted the Sydney University and the Glebe Markets. Last two days I spent with my hostmum's sister's family in Manly. Silvia even took Alana, Sarkku, Oma and I to the Palm Beach, where the 'Home and Away' has been filmed!  Thank you Family Ellis! So many great memories and great people xx

Blue Mountains, ette varmaan enää ihmettele mistä toi nimi tulee. Eukalyptus-puiden öljy höyrystyy kuumassa ilmassa, joka luo heijastuksen sinisyydestä, mikä tekee noista vuorista no, siniset. Angela, mun hosti Newcastlesta tarjoutu ajamaan mut Katoombaan, sieltä Megalong Valleyn Ranchille ja Echopointin kautta Sydneyhyn, ja oli ihan mahtava päivä.

Megalong Valleyssa mun ratsastusseurana oli opas Luke (joka näyttää ihan sarjakuvahahmolta) ja 3 hengen isä-äiti-tytär perhe North Carolinasta. Kendall, perheen aikuinen tytär kerto et oli käyny Suomessa, Vaasassa, kun oli asunu Ruotsissa vuoden. Kysyin sitten että mites sun ruotsin kieli sujuu, ja meillä oli 'sujuvasta' ruotsista vähän eri käsitys, koska kun kysyin ruotsiksi että mikä sun nimi on, niin vastaus oli: "Bra tack, och du?"

Oli tosi onnistunu reissu, maisemat oli ihania ja nähtiin lauma pomppivia villikenguruita, mikä oli ehdottomasti mun vaelluksen kohokohta haha. Juttelin Luken kanssa ja se kerto tosi mielenkiintosia juttuja siitä kun oli asunut 2 vuotta Alice Springissä kamelin käsittelijänä.

The Blue Mountains, have you wondered why they are 'Blue'? The blue colour comes from the eucalyptus oil vapour in the air. My host Angela from Newcastle offered to drive to Katoomba and Megalong Valley, and after my riding, to Echo Point and on to Sydney. The weather was perfect and views were amazing.

At Megalong Valley, riding with me were a family consisting of a mum, dad and daughter from North Carolina and our guide Luke (who looks like a cartoon character). The daughter of the family told me that she had visited Finland while she was living in Sweden for a year. Our views of 'fluent' Swedish were a bit different, because when I asked (in Swedish) what her name was, she answered 'I'm good thanks, how about you?'

I loved my day at the Blue Mountains, and the horse riding was a great way to view the beautiful scenery. We even saw some wild kangaroos, which was the higlight of my day. I also talked to Luke (after reading a book Tracks, I'm crazy about camels haha) who told that he had been living in Alice Springs for 2 years and worked there as a camel handler. Pretty neat!

Newcastle - there are always more good people in this world than there are bad people

Maanantai-aamuna 15.1.2014 herään onnellisesti Newcastlesta kuullakseni, että Sydneyssä (jossa olin vielä edellisenä iltana) on meneillään pankkivanki-tilanne, ja noin 30 ihmistä on lukittuna Lindtin kahvilaan Martin Placessa. Hostmumilta ja kavereilta tulee tarkistusviestejä että oonko kunnossa, oonko Sydneyssä. Meidän aamu Newcastlessa jatkuu rauhallisesti, vaikka koko Australia onkin sekasin. Suunnataan Helenin ja Helenin äidin kanssa New Castlen rannalle, ja kuulen miten kaksi pikkutyttöä puhuu keskenään siitä mitä Sydneyssä nyt tapahtuu. "Isi sanoi mulle, että maailmassa on aina enemmän hyviä ihmisiä kuin pahoja ihmisiä."

Mun päivät Newcastlessa oli jotain sellasta, mitä tuun muistamaan vielä vuosikymmenien jälkeenkin, ja jotenkin mun silmät aukes, että maailmassa oikeesti on ihania ihmisiä jotka haluaa sun parasta ja haluaa auttaa sua. Armstrongien vieraana olo oli enemmän kun hotellissa, hotellikohtelun lisäks olin myös osa ihanaa perhettä. Joka kerta mun loman aikana oli kamala lähtee seuraavaan paikkaan, mut erityisen vaikeeta oli jättää Newcastle ja Armstrongit. 

Monday the 15th of December, 2014, I woke up happily in Newcastle and heard that there was a gun man holding 30 people hostage in a coffee shop in Martin's Place, Central Sydney. My host mum and a couple of friends were asking if I was okay and if I was still in Sydney. Our morning in Newcastle continued as usual, even though the whole of Australia was in shock that something like this could happen at home, in Australia. At the beach I heard two little girls talking and saying "my dad told me this morning that I should not worry, there are always more good people than there are bad people in this world."

My days in Newcastle with Helen and her parents will be something that I will remember the rest of my life, and I actually realised that there are good people that want to take a strange Finnish girl in to their home, welcome her with overwhelming kindness and friendly faces. It was always hard to say farewell to people and move to other place, but leaving Newcastle and Armstrongs was definitely the hardest.

Melbourne

My holiday in Australia started from Melbourne, where my host sister Eloise was able to show me around and tell me how to get the best out of the city in one week. My week was really action packed and ended way too quickly! My new favourite places in Melbourne are definitely St. Kilda Beach and Fitzroy with all those cool cafes and tiny boutiques. 

Just to make sure, -every- man in Melbourne has some sort of facial hair, which inspired me to count all the 'Melbourne beards'. At the end of the week the number was 63 :D

I really enjoyed my time in Melbourne, and Eloise is a lucky girl arounded by wonderful (and sometimes crazy) friends. I loved the atmosphere and how everyone had their own personal style. With Eloise I visited several cute cafes and restaurants, and we even went to a design market exhibition. Eloise and I both signed up for a competition to win a swimming suite worth over 250 dollars, and Eloise actually ended up winning it! 

Tomorrow I will fly to Invercargill and spent my first xmas away from Finland. This is probably the last time you will hear from me before xmas, so merry Christmas (or Chrissie how they say in Aussie) everyone! xx

Mun kahden viikon loma Ausseihin alko siis Melbournesta, jossa mun hostsisko Eloise oli mun oppaana. Melbourne on ihana,ei voi muuta sanoa! Meillä oli tekemistä jokapäivälle ja aika meni ihan liian nopeesti! Sain kuitenkin aika hyvin Melbournen koluttua (mitä nyt viikossa ehtii haha) ja mun ehdottomat lempparipaikat oli St. Kilda Beach ja Fitzroyn hipsteri kahvilat ja putiikit. -Jokasella- miehellä Melbournessa on jotain facial hair, mut Eloisen kans bongattiin viikon aikana yhteensä 63 'Melbourne partaa'.

Olisin voinut jäädä Melbourneen ikuisiks ajoiks, se tunnelma koko kaupungis oli ihana, kahvilaa ja ravintolaa joka kulmassa ja ihmisillä ihanan persoonallisia tyylejä. Käytiin Eloisen kanssa yksillä desing- messuilla ja ilmottauduttiin kisaan jossa voi voittaa 250 dollarin arvosen uimapuvun, ja kaiken huippu oli kun Eloise itseasias voitti sen arvonnan!

Nyt lähen leipomaan pipareita et sais ees vähän joulutunnelmaa haha, ja huomen aamulla lennänkin Invercargilliin, joten musta kuulette taas sitten joulun jälkeen! Ihanaa toivottavasti valkosta joulua kaikille!
